A large mining ventilation system used a 1800kW high-pressure centrifugal fan operating continuously for more than 10 years. The original system applied a traditional induction motor with damper control, causing high energy consumption, unstable airflow, strong startup impact, and rising maintenance costs. Efficiency was especially low under partial-load conditions. The customer required an energy-saving upgrade without replacing the existing fan.
We provided a complete retrofit solution including a permanent magnet servo drive system, intelligent speed control, and operation monitoring. After the upgrade, the system achieved 18%–27% energy savings, reduced startup impact by over 60%, improved pressure stability, and lowered annual maintenance costs by more than 20%. Based on 7,000 operating hours per year, each system can save approximately RMB 800,000–1.5 million in electricity costs annually, with a payback period of 12–24 months. The solution also helps fan manufacturers and service teams develop long-term, high-value retrofit service business.
